For high-quality DVR shooting material, as well as fixing everything that happens around the car, the presence of certain characteristics of the device will not be enough. To get why the registrar was bought, you need to find a USB flash drive with a suitable amount of memory.
DVR recording process
Before buying a memory card for a car device, you need to figure out how the device writes data. The picture can be captured in two modes:
- Continuous - is carried out until the moment when the memory card has free space. When the memory runs out, the gadget stops recording material. To resume this mode and then save the information, you need to format the flash drive or replace it with a new one. A characteristic disadvantage of continuous shooting is that shooting stops, and important information may not be recorded (in the case of an overflowing memory flash drive).
- Cyclic - displays information in parts, allowing you to save them in several files. One cycle records shooting from 3 to 15 minutes. When the memory on the flash drive is full, all old files will be erased by the gadget so that there is free space for new ones. The disadvantage of the loop mode is that important video files can be deleted or overwritten.
Choosing a flash drive: what to look for?
Regardless of the video recording mode you choose, a good dash cam flash drive is the right choice. Even the best, feature-packed devices with high-quality footage can experience stuttering and stuttering due to writing to a poor-quality memory card. Therefore, you should carefully consider the choice of such an accessory.
Criterias of choice:
- DVRs can support different formats for storage media: MicroSD, SXS, SD, CompactFlash. Based on this, it is necessary to choose the format suitable for a particular device.
- Spaciousness.
Higher memory card capacity is more practical. Considering that modern devices are designed for shooting FHD, one three-minute recording can have a weight of about 350 megabytes. Therefore, it is worth giving preference to flash drives - from 16 GB of memory. - Transfer rate.
Higher file reading speed activates fast data reading.
Classification of the speed of writing data to a flash drive:
- Class 2 - 16 Mbps for VGA formats.
- Class 4 - 32 Mbps for HD.
- Class 6 - 48 Mbps for HD.
- Class 10 - 80 Mbps for FHD.
- UHS-1 - 60-80 Mbps for FHD and higher extensions.
- UHS-2 - 100 Mbps for 4K and above.
The selected class and memory capacity of the flash drive affect the transfer rate of the initial data. As a rule, a list of more advanced options affects the cost of memory cards. To maximize the functionality of the DVR, as well as receive files in acceptable quality with the ability to save them, it is better to choose a good flash drive.
Note. For FHD files, a 32 GB class 10 memory card is perfect, for a car accessory with a 4K extension, it is better to consider high-speed UHS-2 flash drives.
