FAQ: Children's smart watch with GPS tracker
Children's smart watches show location with an error
Children's smart watches have three types of location search (geolocation): GPS, LBS, WIFI. All location search modes work autonomously from each other. When using the watch, we recommend that you focus as much as possible on GPS search; this is the most accurate type of geopositioning in open space. Indoors, the signal may be worse and the watch will switch to other types of search. LBS accuracy is 100 m and higher - this is the most inaccurate type of geolocation; it can be turned off in the application settings. Most parents do not know about this and do not turn it off, so when the child is indoors or where the GPS and WIFI signal is lost, the watch starts searching on LBS, which leads to a large location error.
LBS - location search using the nearest GSM antenna of a mobile operator. The LBS is a communications web, it is divided into sectors, each of which is responsible for a tower. The system is not entirely accurate and its calculations can be from 100 to 1000 m, depending on the number of towers your operator has in the area. Only she will be able to determine, albeit imprecisely, geolocation where the GPS signal does not pass, for example, through the thick walls of a building, or where there is no Wi-Fi.
GPS is the most accurate way to determine coordinates through a direct connection to a satellite. The accuracy is 5-10 m, but in bad weather and near tall buildings, communication may deteriorate. The operation of GPS in open spaces is checked through programs on maps, but if the watch is far away, you may need to send an SMS with the command pw,123456,ts# on the parent’s phone.
Wi-Fi - this module is used only to search for coordinates indoors. It often happens that the GPS signal in buildings disappears or weakens; in such cases, Wi-Fi automatically turns on. It shows not the location where the gadget is located, but the address of the Wi-Fi point that the watch detects. The accuracy of the address depends on the strength of the signal and clearer registered coordinates to the Wi-Fi access point and can be 10-40 meters. An important point is that to determine the location of the watch via Wi-Fi, you do not need to know the password, you just need to catch a signal.
Battery drains quickly
The watch holds a charge for about 24 hours in active mode. Standby mode - up to 48 hours. The watch must have a SIM card installed with an activated tariff plan containing mobile Internet (if the mobile Internet is not active or the SIM card has a zero balance for Internet use, the smart watch is constantly searching for a mobile network, which leads to the watch rebooting and overheating , battery discharges in 3-5 hours). In the watch settings, you can reduce the brightness of the display, which also affects the operating time of the device. The Setracker application allows you to select 3 watch frequency modes (geolocation mode): every 10 minutes, every hour and manually obtain positioning. This feature also affects the watch's battery life. To optimize battery life and mobile traffic, use the manual geolocation function in the application (Setracker).
Also, the reason for the rapid discharge of the device can be frequent exchange of text and voice messages or receiving SMS from the cellular network operator (they need to be disabled in the SIM card settings or by calling the operator).
The SOS key works with a delay
The SOS button works when pressed and held for 5 to 7 seconds. This is done to prevent accidental calling.
The pedometer does not work or does not start
The pedometer in children's watches can only be launched using the Setrecker application. Its further use is possible through the watch application.
The device is not online, geolocation does not work
This is only possible if there is no money in the account or there is no mobile Internet. Top up your account or activate mobile Internet.
Does not see the SIM card or the connection is lost
Our company recommends using mobile operators Kyivstar and Vodafone in children's smart watches. Lifecell has less stable coverage and may limit some of the features and functionality of this device.
If there is no power at the base stations, the functions of geolocation, calls, photos work slowly or do not work at all
Due to the lack of electricity, the quality of communication from mobile operators and the mobile Internet is also absent or reduced; unfortunately, the company cannot influence this.
Should you use only those applications on your phone that are in the instructions, or any?
Children's smartphones support and work fully only with the proven and official free SeTracker application.
